We get it, winter makes everything hard — especially dressing. While deep in the depths of winter, it can be tough to get creative with your ‘fits.

Layers are, and will always be, a foolproof way to stay fashion-forward in the colder months, but there’s a few other trends rearing their head this year that can also help you stay both toasty and trendy. 

Whether you’re at the forefront of cutting edge fashion, or simply want to stay warm, we’ve gathered a handful of our favourite winter staples for any budget.
 

Oversized Outerwear

Go big or go home. From classic trenches and longline coats, to blazers and puffer jackets — the bigger the better this wintertime. To nail the oversized look, opt for a relaxed outer silhouette from the likes of Sportsgirl or Country Road that easily slips over a chunky knit. For something a little more cost effective, try shopping in the men’s section at Kmart or Big W for classic coats and basic blazers that achieve the effortless oversized look at a fraction of the price.

Inspired by the colourblocked woollen scarves of Stockholm, we’re seeing big, bold and bright scarves everywhere this winter. While functionally warm, an oversized colourful scarf also adds a bright pop of colour into your monochromatic winter outfits. Find your very own vibrant scarf at most of your favourite large retailers including the likes of Cotton On, Myer, and David Jones. Don't have a scarf? Wrap a brightly coloured jumper or knit around your shoulders for the same effect - Voila!
 

Maxi Skirts

The latest iteration of the revival of the low rise silhouette, we’re seeing maxi skirts in all shapes and forms this season slung low on the waist.
